This course provides the skills & knowledge required for workers within an education and care setting to recognise and respond to medical emergencies in alignment with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, workplace requirements and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
This course will teach you how to assess the casualty, identify illness or injury, ensure safety, contact emergency services and use resources such as an auto-injector for anaphylaxis, asthma action plan and defibrillator (AED) for both infants and adult CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). You'll also learn how to manage an infant or child requiring an immediate ambulance response or with an acute illness, and convey incident details to caregivers, parents and emergency services.

Blended/Refresher Training - 7 hours
Face-to-face assessment following online study - 1.25 hours
Pre-Requisite/Assessment Requirements
Students must be able to perform 2 minutes of unassisted CPR on the floor - a mat will be provided.
For online study students must also have access to a computer, smart phone or tablet to complete the online study &/or pre-course work.
Assessment
You will be required to complete a combination of practical and written assessment tasks.
